One of the best ways to deal with problems of change of land use is through awareness raising and training of the actors directly involved in those changes.
To contribute to this action, attorneys of Institute of Environmental Law and Economics (IDEA), partner of WCS at the USAID funded Ka'aguy Retã: Forests and Development Program are implementing training workshops aimed at cattle ranchers, members of the ARP (Rural Association of Paraguay or Asociación Rural del Paraguay). This series of talks is supported by the Commission of Environment and Sustainable Production (Comisión de Medio Ambiente y Producción Sustentable) of the ARP through its President, Eng. Esteban Vasconsellos.
The first dissertation focused on "Procedures for obtaining Environmental Licenses and Progress in the Implementation of Environmental Services in Paraguay", common issues for landowners and very important for strengthening the country's environmental policy.
Over 30 people attended the event, showing great interest in the initiative and they also expressed the great help of knowing more about these relevant topics, to be able to combine legal, economic and environmental aspects at their daily work.
